"It looks like that machine carries fluid in those sacs. Not sure I want to find out what kind."
Aloy, upon sighting a Freeze Bellowback

The Freeze Bellowback is a machine in Horizon Zero Dawn. Resembling the appearance of a Fire Bellowback, this variant is equipped with tanks of Chillwater instead of Blaze.

The Bellowback bears a very vague similarity to a theropod dinosaur (Spinosaurus or Baryonyx in particular), much like Thunderjaws and Watchers, lacking forelimbs. Its torso and head also have a slight resemblance to a pair of bellows used for blowing oxygen into a fire.

Both types of Bellowbacks were created by GAIA in order to perform controlled burns to dead vegetation to make way for new vegetation, as well as to control the number of plants and vegetation so that animals and humans had a reasonable habitat to live in. Freeze Bellowbacks were used to counteract Fire Bellowbacks to make sure their controlled burns didn't get out of control. They were also used as transport machines to transport large quantities of Chillwater to cauldrons.

After the effects of The Derangement, this machine became more deadly and aggressive. The machine now not only transports Chillwater but also serves as a tough opponent in battle. It now can spit iceballs at targets at mid-long range, breathe ice on close targets ,and create small blizzards and rings of ice at will.

The Freeze Bellowback shoots out long-range arcing ice projectiles that can hit Aloy from afar. The ice can deal significant damage and have a large splash radius. Therefore it is necessary for the player when and how to dodge.

The Freeze Bellowback can also charge forward and swipe its mouth at Aloy, spreading ice around the area. This deals a small amount of damage, but can damage Aloy over time and slow her movement speed.
