The Glinthawk is a flying machine which resembles a bird, much like the similar Stormbird, yet serves as a scavenger, carrying downed machines for their later recycling.
This machine's appearance is very similar to a hawk or raven. Just like Stormbirds, the Glinthawk exhibits winglets on their wing tips. Their overall appearance is sleeker than that of a Stormbird, though, their heads and tails being more elongated. Their head is composed of three separate jaws made to firmly grasp mechanical parts, and on its belly is a Freeze Sac.
Glinthawks were designed and created by GAIA as a part of the terraforming process centuries after the Faro Plague wiped out all life on Earth. As the atmospheric machines like the Striders wore out or fell apart, the Glinthawks will carry them (or parts of them) away to be recycled and eventually built into a whole new machine. In this respect, they fulfill the role of a modern day vulture or other carrion bird.
Glinthawks can lift the "corpses" of neutralized machines, most likely to dismantle them and reuse their components. It is unknown if they work in conjunction with Scrappers, or compete with them for resources.

- They are attracted to destroyed machines similar to the Scrapper.
- When on fire or if hit in the Freezer Sac, Glinthawks fall to the ground and stop attacking temporarily.
- In order to override a Glinthawk, it must be grounded. Usually this is accomplished by sneaking up on one while it is scrapping a dead machine.
